Because it's sunny, the plants get more light. And because it's hot, they get more water. And their food is always mixed with the water in the same proportions, so the more they drink, the more food they get. So in a heat wave, they get more light, more food, more water, therefore more growth. So while I personally, and the dog, don't enjoy heat waves, I'm enjoying putting 20 to 30 L of water into the garden a day, knowing it brings us closer to having flowers.
